I feel like a broken record -- I’m always talking about why I don’t read contemporary young adult books. Unless there’s a hook that’s particularly interesting, I’m just not interested. I picked up Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda simply because it is such a beloved story in the YA community and has changed the lives of so many teens. Unsure if it would appeal to my cranky, old lady heart, I’m so happy to say that I really loved this book.
This review will contain spoilers. If you haven't read Everything, Everything, you should stay away. Seriously. I went into this book knowing pretty much nothing about it. I knew that it had a nice cover and upcoming film. I also had a basic idea of the plot.
There was so much hype surrounding When Dimple Met Rishi. It is the kind of book that YA readers have been crying out for for ages, and Menon absolutely hit the nail on the head.
I have stated countless times on this blog that I just don’t like contemporary YA. As a nearly 29 year old, it just doesn’t click with me. However, The State of Grace resonated so strongly with me. This book is something special, and I was absolutely charmed.
The Jungle was an interesting one for me. I'm not a big fan of contemporary YA, but I saw the subject matter and decided to read it.
