Fall and winter are quickly becoming my favorite seasons. I’m a Southern California girl, but moving to the UK has made me appreciate the colder months. There’s just something about the cool weather – and it’s not just that it’s a great excuse to build a blanket fort and read books with a giant cup of hot chocolate (spoiler alert: my winter plans).

July has come to a close and what a month it has been! I’ve been incredibly busy in my work, personal, and bookish lives. From my holiday to Edinburgh to the absolute insanity of YALC, there has been so much going on and not nearly enough time to read! The Never King is the newest novel from Mark Charan Newton, who is writing under the pseudonym James Abbott. I hadn't read any of Newton's books before diving into this one, but was intrigued nonetheless.
