As I’m sure you all know (and might be sick of hearing), I was lucky enough to attend YALC this past weekend. The Young Adult Literature Convention is part of London Film and Comic Con and is held once a year. I had never been before and was incredibly excited to attend – I have friends who have been, and they absolutely loved it. I got my reading list together, came up with some tips for attending, made some pals on Twitter, packed my bags, and headed to London.
Hi everyone, and happy Sunday! Today's post is coming a little late because I've hauled myself to the last day of YALC, back to my parent's place, onto the train, and am finally back home! This wI'll be a super YALC-heavy post, but not a full round up. I'll post that once I've recovered. Onward! … Continue reading Instagram Sundays
Happy Friday, you guys! I’m currently living it up at YALC, but I didn’t want to miss my favorite post of the week. I've been trying to get a ton of reading in before attending this convention, however life gets in the way (as usual). I dind't read as much as I would have liked, but here is a round-up of all the reading I did this week. Apologies if this post is weirdly formatted or if I don't reply as fast as usual! I imagine I'm probably going to be absolutely exhausted after every day!
The fantasy genre is notorious for its long series and hefty books. As a long-time fantasy reader, there are so many series that I just haven’t managed to finish. I decided to highlight a few of these unfinished series, along with some non-fantasy series, for Top Ten Tuesday, as The Broke and the Bookish is on hiatus. I’m only listing series I’d like to finish rather than ones I decided to quit (looking at you, Dresden Files).
One Minute Recommendations are flash recommendations of books I think you'll love and why! These will all be books that haven't had a full review on this site yet.
Happy Friday! I'm currently in Edinburgh, my home away from home, and am absolutely loving it. Holidays are always the best time for reading, so let's get to it!
The Underground Railroad has been on my radar since its publication in 2016. It received pretty much all of the good press a book could get – it was one of the titles in Oprah’s book club, won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction, the National Book Award, and was named as one of the books Barack Obama read while in office. It’s a departure from a lot of the books I’ve been reading these days, but I knew I had to pick it up.
I'm posting this a little later in the day than I usually like -- it has been a busy day! Scottish Fiancé ran his first race, so my big sister and I made signs to taunt/support him (see photo below). It has been a really hot day here in London, so there has been a … Continue reading Instagram Sundays
It’s Friday, the happiest day of the week! I didn’t do a weekly wrap-up last week because the last day of the month fell on a Friday – you can read my June round-up here. It has been a tough week for reading and blogging because of general life things (again, all good stuff), but I did manage to read one book this week.
TBR Thursday is one of my favorite weekly posts from Bionic Book Worm’s lovely blog, so I thought I’d try my hand at it. If you aren’t following her yet, well, you really should be. Not only does she do great reviews and bookish posts, she's an all-around lovely person. You can find her blog here! All credit for this idea and the stunning TBR Thursday graphic go to her!
