I recently read and reviewed Ninefox Gambit, the first in the Machineries of Empire trilogy. It had been getting great press, was nominated for some of the top honours in science fiction, and has a stunning cover. I picked it up despite it not being my usual taste in sci-fi
I've been reading a lot of books with romance in them lately and The Futures was a great break from that. Be warned: it is not the story of a charming couple meeting, falling in love, and living happily ever after; it is about the breakdown of a relationship that is crumbling before the first page.
I knew I had to read this book as soon as I learned about it. A geeky twist on the classic Cinderella story, Geekerella was everything I wanted it to be and more.
The best opening chapter ever. ARC review of John Scalzi's The Collapsing Empire
