Happy Friday, all! Is it just me or does it feel like January has lasted approximately 12 years? I have no idea why it feels like the longest month, but it is finally at an end! Bring on February!
Check out all the bookish things that have happened in my life this week!
Books I read
A Queen in Hiding by Sarah Kozloff
Wilder Girls by Rory Powers
It was an okay reading week for me, with two books finished. Neither blew me away, but A Queen in Hiding was definitely the bright spot in my week — it’s such fun fantasy adventure! Wilder Girls, on the other hand, was a big disappointment. I wanted so badly to love it, but it just didn’t work for me.
Reviews for these books are coming soon!
Books I’m currently reading
The Fifth Season by N. K. Jemisin
The Stars We Steal by Alexa Donne
I’m currently in the middle of two very different, but very enjoyable books! I’m really enjoying The Fifth Season and The Stars We Steal, despite the fact that the’re on completely opposite ends of the spectrum. The Stars We Steal is a review copy — the book comes out on the 4th of February — and The Fifth Season is a book I’ve been meaning to read for years.
Books I bought
Into the Drowning Deep by Mira Grant
Borne by Jeff VanderMeer
Too Like the Lightning by Ada Palmer
The Cheerleaders by Kara Thomas
Lady Hotspur by Tessa Gratton
Little Women by Louisa May Alcott
I may or may not have had a little book binge last weekend! I went into town with three amazing bookish friends and we went to both Waterstones and Blackwells! I’m so looking forward to reading all of these — they’re all new to me!
Chilling Effect by Valerie Valdes
The Wolf of Oren-Yaro by K. S. Villoso
The Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires by Grady Hendrix
I’ve received some amazing books this week! Between psychic cats, bitch queens, and prim ladies slaying vampires, I’m in for some excellent reading.
Doors of Eden by Adrian Tchaikovsky
Woohoooo! I was able to request one of my most anticipated books of the year from NetGalley! I’ve started this one and it is fantastic so far. I probably wont make much progress for awhile, but I’m so pumped to crack into this book.
