Weekly Wrap-Up: 13 December 2019

weekly wrap up new

Happy Friday! Isn’t it insane that Christmas is nearly here? And 2020? I’m working away on reducing my ‘must read’ books for 2019 while trying to get a head start on 2020 titles. Fortunately for me, it was a really good reading week for me (especially after last week’s embarrassing result). Check out the books I’ve read and hauled this week below!

Books I read

Girls of Paper and Fire by Natasha Ngan

The Toll by Neil Schusterman

Starsight by Brandon Sanderson

The Amber Spyglass by Philip Pullman

I didn’t have any new reads to report last week because I was in the middle of so many books, but I’ve clearly been finishing them off! All four of these books were really fun reads, but The Toll was easily my least favourite of them. The Arc of the Scythe series is so wildly inconsistent for me, but they were fun audiobooks that kept me entertained at least. I liked both Girls of Paper and Fire and Starsight, but neither were spectacular new favourites. The Amber Spyglass was the best of the month. Reviews for all three of these books are forthcoming!

Books I am currently reading

Robots of Dawn by Isaac Asimov

The Shadow Saint by Gareth Hanrahan

I’m currently working on two books, but I’m going to be picking up a new audiobook soon. The Shadow Saint is taking priority at the moment — I’m really enjoying it even though it’s pretty different from the first book! Robots of Dawn will be the next physical book — I’ve been neglecting it in favour of new and upcoming releases.

Books I bought

Book post

Queen of Coin and Whispers by Helen Corocan

A Queen in Hiding by Sarah Kozloff

The Shadow Saint by Gareth Hanrahan

I’ve been getting lots of book post this week! All of these books are 2020 releases and I’m so looking forward to reading them all!  Two are YA fantasy while The Shadow Saint is adult fantasy.

That’s it for this week! What have you been reading? Pick up any new books? Are any of these on your TBR? Let me know!
