Happy Friday! It feels like ages since I’ve done a weekly wrap-up post. I’ve been super busy with work and with other projects like our podcast and my YouTube channel! I have, however, been reading a lot and am planning to get much more done this weekend!
Books I read
Age of Assassins by R. J. Barker
I finished one book this week, an audiobook, and it was a great one! Age of Assassins goes on the ‘why the hell didn’t I read this sooner?’ shelf with books like City of Stairs and Jade City. I had an absolute blast listening to this book and am waiting for my Audible subscription to renew so I can get the next one!
Books I am currently reading
The Dragon Republic by R. F. Kuang
The Lady’s Guide to Celestial Mechanics by Olivia Waite
I’m currently reading two books at the moment, and they’re both quite different! The Dragon Republic is, of course, the sequel to The Poppy War. I’m about 500 pages into this book and I’m really enjoying it so far!
My other book is The Lady’s Guide to Celestial Mechanics, a historical romance featuring a relationship between two women. I am absolutely loving this book — not just because it balances out the grimdark Dragon Republic — and I can’t wait to finish work so I can keep reading!
Books I’ve bought
A Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson
After a saga worthy of the most epic of epic fantasy, I finally received my June FairyLoot box (shout out to the amazing FairyLoot team for helping me get a replacement!) and therefore making it the FOURTH copy of A Sorcery of Thorns that I’ve ordered. Don’t ask.
What She Found in the Woods by Josephine Angelini
This week, I received a copy of What She Found in the Woods, a YA thriller from Macmillan Children’s Books! I hadn’t heard of this one, but I’m definitely intrigued. I love a good thriller and summer is a great time to read them!
It has been a pretty quiet week for me so far, but that’s not a bad thing because July and August are going to get crazy! The Off the Grid readathon started today, YALC is in two weeks, and I have a ton of activities planned between now and the end of August. I can sleep in September I guess.
