Christmas! Christmas! ChristmasChristmasChristmas!
I’m heading home for Christmas tonight, can you tell?
The week before the holidays always feels so incredibly slow and boring — except for this year. Why is it so busy? Why am I running around frantically? I should be filling up on chocolate and holiday cheer!
Books I read
Empire of Sand by Tasha Suri
I finished one book this week, and it’s definitely an interesting one for me. Empire of Sand is a book that has left me a lot to think about, mostly because I’m not entirely sure what to think. On the one hand there was so much I loved about this book — the characters, the world, the magic, and the romance were incredible. However, this book is slow. Not only is it incredibly dense, the pacing was completely off. I’ll talk more about this in my upcoming review, but I have a lot to ponder before I can write it.
Books I am currently reading
The Winter of the Witch by Katherine Arden
Dumplin’ by Julie Murphy
Transcription by Kate Atkinson
Hello, three very different books. You know I can never stick to one thing, and this is very much the case at the moment. I’m loving all the books I’m reading and hope to finish them all up over the holidays!
Book post
Once and Future by Amy Rose Capetta & Cori McCarthy
The Wolf and the Whale by Jordanna Max Brodsky
The Gutter Prayer by Gareth Hanrahan
This week has been absolutely amazing for book post! The Wolf in the Whale and The Gutter Prayer are both from Orbit and coming out in January, while Once and Future comes out in March from Rock the Boat. The new year is already filling up with amazing reads.
NetGalley approvals
Master of Sorrows by Justin Call
Master of Sorrows sounds like it is my exact cup of tea. It’s a fantasy boarding school book about a boy who discovers that he is the villain. How amazing is that?
That’s it for this week! It has been hectic and crazy, but I’m so happy the holidays are finally here.
Watching Dumplin has really made me want to read the book. Looking forward to your full thoughts on Empire of Sand!

Finished Dumplin’ earlier today! I think the film is actually better than the book – they took all the best bits and pulled the film together from there!

Ah, interesting to know! I really LOVED the movie. It’s so feel good.

Right? Some of my favourite bits from the film weren’t actually in the book. I think they did an amazing job with the adaptation! The book is definitely worth reading (I’d like to read the second one too), but I did like the film much more.

I love posts that include a picture of a cat with a book. Two of my favorite things. Even better when it’s a beautiful cat.
